I’ve been following Simen Johan’s work since before I first posted some images of his a few years ago. He is absolutely one of my favorite photography artists. From a description of his work from the Robert Koch Gallery, “Johan depicts animals in scenarios where their actions or demeanor mirror human conventions. The images allude to our inclination to anthropomorphize and domesticate what we see and find around us, and they speak to realms of emotion, our fears and desires, rather than reason.”
