When I first saw these pictures, I thought they were just nice portraits of people with their longtime animal companions.  Some of them reminded me of those photos you see of the pet and the owner resembling each other.  But then I started thinking more about not just how the animal is 13, 20, 47 years old, but how the animal and the owner have spent those years together.  It seems rare to me that people truly commit their lives to taking care of an animal for its entire life and not just giving it up at some point.  The series reminds me a bit of Isa Leshko’s Elderly Animals, and it’s certainly another interesting way of looking at both animals’ and our own mortality.
