I saw Megan Perra’s work at the Beaverton Arts Mix this month and her unique style and truly beautiful imagery really stood out to me. Perra’s printmaking is “an exploration of the relationship between predator and prey” and of “the intimacies that are born of violence. The narrative behind each image is rooted in ecology but drawn around lust or fear or love.” The artist aims “to demonstrate the familiar within the inhuman, and reconcile a bit of ourselves with the world we have been divided from” (excerpts from Perra’s artist statement). I love the simultaneous existence of safety and wrath in Perra’s work. I can’t wait to have a print of hers on the walls of my home sometime soon.
